Delaware Silver Jackets

In 2014-2015 Delaware local, state, and federal representatives began taking several steps towards the formation of a Silver Jackets Team. This interagency collaboration allows for greater facilitation and communication regarding flood risk identification, risk communication, flood hazard mitigation, the promotion of sound floodplain management practices, and addressing other natural hazards that threaten Delaware.

TEAM MISSION STATEMENT

Delaware's Silver Jackets Team is devoted to improving Delaware's flood risk reduction efforts by improving access to quality flood risk data, interagency coordination, communicating flood risk to the public, and supporting strong flood risk management programs at the federal, state, and local level.

Team Activities

  • Meet twice a year or on an as-needed basis. Use conference calls and web meetings to increase participation.
  • Provide assistance and input in the review and update the State Hazard Mitigation Plan as well as local all-hazard plans.
  • Support workshops, training and educational opportunities.
  • Support post-disaster recovery efforts.
  • Identify funding sources and grant opportunity for flood risk reduction activities.
