Welcome

The purpose of this site is to provide the engineering features and functions of typical Corps of Engineers Civil Works Structures. This site is NOT intended to be a design manual, but rather to provide sufficient information to stimulate plan formulation and assist planners in identifying what’s out there and to “visualize” how a management measure or engineering feature may be applicable to their project. It is organized in four primary sections: local flood risk management, navigation locks and dams, multipurpose reservoirs, and coastal measures. Selected engineering features are highlighted for the range of applications and photographs and diagrams are included to provide a rudimentary portrayal of the way these structures work at Corps projects.
