National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP):

Theprogram under which communities may be eligiblefor federal flood insurance on the condition thatthe communities enact satisfactory floodplainmanagement regulations.

Nearshore (zone):

In beach terminology an indefinite zone extending seaward from the shoreline well beyond the breaker zone. It defines the area of NEARSHORE CURRENTS.

Neat lines:

Lines on drawings which establish tolerances for construction.

Nonstructural Floodplain Management Measures:

Those measures employed to modify the exposureof buildings to floods, e.g. floodproofing, land useplanning, warning schemes, and insurance, asopposed to structural measures such as dams, levees, and channel modifications.

Non-Velocity Coastal Flood Area:

Any area that issubject to inundation by tidal waters which haslower velocity or wave components then a CoastalHigh Hazard Area.
