Dr. Jason Giovannettone has been working with IWR under a National Research Council Research Associateship since December 2006. His work with IWR revolves around routing models for the St. Clair River and developing a North American aridity map.
Dr. Giovannettone is refining a routing model of the St. Clair River between Lake Huron and Lake St. Clair to more accurately predict changes in stage and flow. The St. Clair River model will allow the prediction of conveyance changes through changes in the roughness of the channel.
He is also helping to develop an aridity map of North America for the project involving the Water Center for Arid and Semi-Arid Zones of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAZALAC). The aridity map is an extension of a similar map created for Latin and South America that helps define areas of high drought and water need.
