Dr. Richard Meganck joins the International Center for Integrated Water Resources Management (ICIWaRM) as its initial Visiting Scholar. His work with ICIWaRM focuses on facilitating technical and capacity development partnerships with other UNESCO Water Centers around the world. He currently holds a chair in the water resources management group at Oregon State University. From 2003 to 2009, Dr. Meganck was the first Rector at the UNESCO Institute for Water Education (IHE) in Delft, the Netherlands. Prior to that, he spent six years with the UN Environment Programme. During that time he was Director of the UN International Environment Technology Center, Director of the Regional Seas Program for the Caribbean and Director of the 58-country Asia and Pacific Region. Dr. Meganck was the Director of Sustainable Development and Environment with the Organization of American States and worked with the Inter-American Development Bank. He began his career as a Peace Corps volunteer in Latin America. Dr. Meganck holds BSc and MSc degrees in watershed management and resource development policy from Michigan State University. He holds a PhD in natural resource management from Oregon State University. He has published numerous journal articles and books. His extensive experience with international partners supports ICIWaRM’s commitment to collaborate with fellow UNESCO Water Centers and IHP programs. More about the ICIWaRM Visiting Scholar Program
