Maria Placht

Maria Placht was the 2008 – 2010 Presidential Management Fellow at IWR. She worked with the Conflict Resolution and Public Participation Center (CPC), a designated Corps Center of Expertise. Her work included the Collaborative Capacity Development Initiative. The goal of this initiative was to conduct an internal assessment that highlighted current strengths in the Corps' collaborative capabilities and identified areas that could be enhanced. Eight workshops were held as part of this effort. Prior to each workshop, leaders from each functional area at the MSC and District level participated in a capacity assessment tool, both individually and collectively.

As a Presidential Management Fellow, Ms. Placht completed a rotation at the State Department's Bureau of Oceans, Environment and Science, Office of Air and Water. While there she worked to improve coordination with the Combatant Commands on implementing the Senator Paul Simon Water for the Poor Act. She also completed rotations at Corps Headquarters and the U.S. Institute for Environmental Conflict Resolution in Tucson, AZ.
