      <description>Created in 1969, IWR is a field operating activity under the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Headquarters Civil Works Directorate. The IWR mission is to provide forward-looking analysis, cutting-edge methodologies, and innovative tools to aid the Civil Works program.&lt;br/&gt;

USACE continues to closely monitor, survey and model conditions on the river with regards to potential impacts on both navigation and saltwater intrusion from the Gulf of Mexico. Researchers from the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center are assisting in assessment and mitigation efforts.
