The Water Resources Center (WRC) mission is:
To solve USACE’s water resources challenges by analyzing and developing innovative and implementable methods, tools, and strategies.
The WRC has established five strategic goals. These goals provide a clear roadmap for accomplishing our mission. They represent a proactive, results-driven approach that directly supports the national priorities of infrastructure modernization, regulatory efficiency, national resilience, and local empowerment:
- Proactively Address Emerging Water Resource Challenges. Identify and propose actionable solutions to evolving risks, including aging infrastructure, extreme weather events, and shifting national priorities.
- Develop and Deploy Practical Methods and Tools. Create and promote field-ready, implementable tools and methodologies that support efficient planning, risk management, and operational decision-making across diverse water resource contexts.
- Strengthen Strategic Direction and Decision Support. Deliver timely analysis and well-developed alternatives that inform water resource strategies, enhance transparency, and support cost-effective, locally adaptable decision-making.
- Deliver Technical Assistance and Capacity Building. Provide expert guidance, infrastructure insights, and workforce development to Districts and partners, enabling them to address complex water resource challenges with confidence and precision.
- Accelerate Innovation and Transformative Solutions. Harness advances in data, science, technology, and interdisciplinary approaches to modernize USACE processes, improve outcomes, and drive innovation in water resource management.
