ALEXANDRIA, VIRGINIA - July 31, 2012. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) recently met for their quarterly Joint Headquarters Meeting. The meeting was held at the U.S. Geological Survey National Center in Reston, Virginia on June 8, 2012. Personnel from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) National Weather Service (NWS) also spoke at the meeting.
Steve Stockton, Director of Civil Works, gave the USACE overview. Mark Landers, USGS, and James Selegean, USACE Detroit District, presented information on the joint USGS/USACE Sediment Activities, including Sediment Monitoring Issues and St. Clair River Work. Alex Flanigan, USACE Omaha District, and Reginna Cabrera, NOAA/NWS, spoke about the Streamgage Metadata Map. Rolf Olsen, USACE IWR, gave an update on Non Stationarity Workgroup activities. Chris Dunn of IWR’s Hydrologic Engineering Center and Beth Faber also made presentations for USACE. Additional topics covered included updates for the Integrated Water Resources Science and Services (IWRSS), USGS National Streamflow Information Program (NSIP), Streamgaging and a retrospective report on the 2011 Floods.
