ALEXANDRIA, VA—March 30, 2011. IWR is taking part in the Foreign National Engineer and Scientist Exchange Program. Mr. Alex Roos, a senior manager at the Dutch Rijkswaterstaat (RWS), Netherlands Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management, is currently working at the Risk Management Center (RMC) in Lakewood, CO, in support of USACE levee safety activities.

USACE and RWS have an ongoing partnership that aims to promote and facilitate collaborative efforts that benefit the integrated water resources management policies of both countries. Participating in the Foreign National Engineer and Scientist Exchange Program furthers this goal by sharing expertise between RWS and RMC, a designated Corps Center of Expertise.

More about the Risk Management Center

The Risk Management Center (RMC) supports the Corps Civil Works mission by managing and assessing risks for dams and levee systems; assisting dam and levee safety activities throughout the Corps; and developing policies, methods, tools and systems to enhance those activities. RMC is active in a number of Communities of Practice, and it serves as a Corps-wide resource for risk-related tools, assessments, knowledge and methods. RMC was designated as a Corps Center of Expertise and Directory of Expertise in 2008.
