ALEXANDRIA, VIRGINIA.  USACE IWR Global and Climate Change Team scientist Dr. Kate White and USACE Philadelphia District’s Keith Watson were featured in interviews in the film Shored Up, recent winner of the Sundance Documentary Prize.

The feature-length film is about rising sea levels in the U.S. It spans the time before and after superstorm Sandy. Communities in Long Beach Island, New Jersey and the Outer Banks of North Carolina were followed through the three-year period.

Filmmakers interviewed scientists, politicians, environmental advocacy groups, seaside businesses and residents.  Shored Up explores the complexity of climate change impact. It was awarded as a feature-length documentary film about environmental sustainability.
