Federal Agency Partnerships

Bureau of Reclamation (DOI)

The Bureau of Reclamation and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers have agreed to collaborate in efforts leading to the improved management of water and related land resources. The partners’ cooperation can enhance public services and resource management and protection, as well as make efficient use of each agency’s resources and abilities. IWR plays a role in the implementation of this agreement.

Economic Research Service (USDA)

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Economic Research Service (ERS) and IWR signed a partnership agreement designed to increase the sharing of information and collaboration on transportation-related economic research between the two agencies.

National Institute of Food and Agriculture (USDA)

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) and IWR signed an interagency agreement to collaborate in the performance of natural resources and watershed management.

Natural Resources Conservation Service (USDA)

The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) have agreed to enhance their collaborative efforts to improve the management of water and related land resources. This partnership will harmonize both agencies’ efforts and improve the efficiency of joint conservation and water resources management projects. IWR plays a role in the implementation of this agreement.

National Weather Service (NOAA)

Oceanic And Atmospheric Administration, National Weather Service (NWS) have signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to provide NWS with innovative software from HEC. The software updates will improve the NWS River Forecast System (NWSRFS), which is a collection of hydrologic models, operations, and data processing functions that are used to supply forecasts, guidance and information to NWS.

Sandia National Laboratories

Sandia National Laboratories (Sandia) and IWR signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that builds upon their common interests in integrated water resources management and Computer Aided Dispute Resolution.

U.S. Geological Survey

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) have agreed to undertake collaborative efforts to improve resource management and the understanding of the nation’s resources. The agencies’ cooperation will further the use of science in the practice of water resource management. IWR plays a role in the implementation of this agreement.

U.S. Institute for Environmental Conflict Resolution

The U.S. Institute for Environmental Conflict Resolution of the Morris K. Udall Foundation (U.S. Institute) and IWR signed a Memorandum of Understanding recognizing a mutual interest advancing the practice of Environmental Conflict Resolution (ECR). The Parties share expertise in the development, application, and transfer of alternative dispute resolution processes and analytical techniques in support of Integrated Water Resources Management and sustainable development.

UT-Battelle (Oak Ridge National Laboratory) and USACE Engineer Research and Development Center

UT-Battelle, LLC, USACE Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC), and IWR participated in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and UT-Battelle, which manages and operates Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). The agreement formalizes ongoing research and looks ahead to future collaborations that will pool resources of the Department of Energy lab, IWR, and ERDC. ORNL is managed by UT-Battelle for the Department of Energy.
