Oklahoma Silver Jackets

VISION STATEMENT

Consistent with the State of Oklahoma Hazard Mitigation Plan, the Silver Jackets Team supports comprehensive and sustainable actions that reduce the level of risk from flooding and other natural hazards to provide risk reduction and protection of life, property, and the beneficial functions of floodplains.

MISSION STATEMENT

Facilitate cooperation and collaboration in the implementation of mitigation risk reduction strategies, and projects that reduce impacts of hazards to homes, businesses, and social systems.

The team’s goals are to:

  • Provide technical assistance in identifying and prioritizing short and long-term actions to reduce the threat, vulnerability, and consequences of flooding and other natural disasters in Oklahoma.
  • Establish or supplement mechanisms to collaboratively identify issues and implement or recommend solutions.
  • Foster collaboration with key partners to develop risk reduction strategies.
  • Jointly develop risk assessments and other hazard risk identification for impacted communities.
  • Identify and promote educational and collaboration opportunities such as workshops, policy forums and training courses.
  • Improve flood and other natural hazards mapping and risk analysis and linkages to advance hydrologic prediction models.
